A Summer Evening Stroll in Paris

As most of you know, I spent the July 4th holiday week in France, visiting my grand-father who has been diagnosed with terminal intestine cancer. It was not easy to say goodbye but I feel at peace that I had the chance to do it.

After visiting my grandparents who live near Chantilly, 45 minutes north of Paris, I stayed a few days in Paris, on the left bank at my goddaughter’s.

What I love most about this time of year – besides shopping the summer sales -:) is strolling through the streets of Paris until 10pm when it’s still light outside.

It’s so easy to walk everywhere, especially on a sunny day. You just have to make sure to wear comfortable sneakers!

My favorite stroll is along the Seine river and the many bridges that cross from the left bank to the right bank. It’s so romantic watching the Bateaux Mouches passing by!

In our two hours stroll, we walked on the Pont Saint-Michel overviewing l’Ile de la Cité. We passed Notre-Dame de Paris where the streets close by are closed due to the renovation. I did feel a chill when seeing the damaged Cathedral.

We then crossed another bridge towards Hôtel de Ville in the direction of Le Marais district where we ate Crêpes Bretonnes in a very small crêperie.

On our way back, we strolled by the Louvre and the Pyramid and saw the most beautiful sunset overlooking La Seine.

I always feel very nostalgic every time I go back to Paris. Must be the fact that it’s my birth city.

Do you feel the same when going home?

Hope you enjoyed this post.

As always, thanks for reading.

A bientôt ♥

  1. I feel the same when I am in the UK. I wasn’t born there, I just love it there and feel at home. I have been once in Paris and loved strolling near the Seine too! Beautiful photos.
