A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure to attend Simply Sylvia’s “Soiree in St. Tropez” and sample the new spring lunch menu at Boulangerie Christophe, an authentic French bakery located in upper Georgetown.
The owners are from the small town of St. Tropez in Southern France and offer specialties from Provence like the slow roasted tomatoes, ratatouille, fish soup and lavender lemonade just to name a few of my favorites.
Not to forget La Tarte Tropézienne, on the dessert menu, which is a brioche pastry cake filled with a rich custard. The dessert was pretty much discovered by Brigitte Bardot while shooting the movie “And God created women” in St. Tropez and France fell in love with both Brigitte and the cake!
The tasting menu was so authentic! Everything from the Frosé cocktail to the assortment of desserts literally took us back to the South of France. Oh, and did I mention the Rosé? The bakery imports its wines directly from Provence which are not sold in any local wine stores. Can’t wait for warmer weather to sip a glass of rosé on their outdoor terrace, close my eyes and pretend I’m in St. Tropez!
The table setting looked just like the typical “Table Provençale” with fresh flower centerpieces from local shop, Cedar & Lime Collective , fresh lavender and lemons.
The menu dégustation included four courses and an assortment of desserts. The salmon tartare and Italian mille-feuille are on the regular menu all year while the spinach salad with goat cheese and strawberries and the asparagus croustillant with ham are spring specialties. Yes, it was quite a feast!
Boulangerie Christophe is open for breakfast, lunch and Happy Hour. You can also book a private dinner party and they can take care of all the details just like they did for Sylvia’s sumptuous soirée!
Hope you enjoyed this post.
As always, thanks for reading!
A bientôt ♥
