Plaid (a.k.a tartan) is a trend I’m totally embracing this fall and plan on wearing it through winter. The only plaid blazer I owned until this one is a structured blazer but this fall I fell in love (sorry for the pun) with the long oversized style.
It’s such a versatile piece that you can wear at the office and on the weekends. After searching high and low, I finally found the perfect plaid blazer from Free People. I love the classic plaid pattern and the black velvet details on the collar and pockets. Priced at $168, it is a bit pricey but I prefer spending a bit more for getting a quality staple that I know will last many seasons. No worries, I found a similar affordable style from Target.
Here are three ways to style your oversized plaid blazer, also called Boyfriend Blazer.
1.With a short skirt or dress: this is the perfect work look with a bit of an edge to it. I paired this particular look with over-the-knee black suede boots which is one of my favorite fall boots! For a more structured look, you can also belt the blazer. Très chic!
2. With skinny jeans: this is such an effortless chic look. Just wear a simple white or graphic tee like this Levi’s t-shirt with pumps or sock booties.
3. With skinny black leather leggings: wearing an all black outfit like black leather leggings with a turtleneck or sweater is another effortless way to style your plaid blazer! The best part about an oversized blazer is you can wear sweaters underneath!
Styling Tip: Keep the plaid blazer the focal point of your outfit and style it with neutral colors and fitted essentials.

I have definitely embraced plaid this season. Clearly in my last Thursday Moda post, I showed that. I have the skirt version of that Target plaid jacket you mentioned (need to add that one). Your BF plaid blazer is stunning and you styled it perfectly, Christine. Love those cozy boots!
As a matter of fact I chose this post as one of my favorites from last week’s Thursday Moda and featured it on my blog this week so welcome by, check it out and link up again. =)
