How to Style Plaid Pants the French Chic Way

How to Style Plaid Pants the French Chic Way

Plaid is still all the rage this fall. Long are the days when plaid was such a classic print, only worn by the Queen of England!

Plaid or Tartan to be exact, has taken a whole new level this fall when mixed with different patterns like florals and stripes or worn with trainers, hooded sweatshirts and oversized coats.

Last holiday season, I bought this pair of checked trousers at Zara and simply styled it with a black turtleneck and completed the outfit with a pair of red suede sock booties to give it a pop of color. You can see the whole outfit here.

This year, I refreshed this classic look by mixing it up a bit and giving it a more edgy twist.

Inspired by last month’s Vogue article “Clash of the Tartans” in the October edition, I’ve been having fun pairing these classic plaid pants with:

  • The traditional Breton top. This striped long-sleeve tee is from &OtherStories, my new favorite Parisian store in Georgetown. You can of course order it online. I love the details of the red neckline and that it’s 100% cotton.
  • Classic grey sweater. H&M always has a wide selection of basic sweaters at a great value! I love mixing a casual sweater with a more fitted pants.
  • Metallic silver booties with jewels. These were actually gifted by my boss who happens to have the same shoe size! I spotted the same style though at Nine West.

What about you? Did you refresh your fall wardrobe with plaid this fall?

Hope you enjoyed this outfit.

Next week I’ll be sharing what I’ll be wearing for Thanksgiving. Hope you can visit then!

A bientôt ♥
