In my post last week, I shared this romantic floral dress outfit I wore at Simply Sylvia’s 50th Birthday brunch celebration at the elegant Alhambra DC restaurant.
While my style is not as “girly” as I’ve never been a big fan of floral prints in general, I’m loving the floral prints trend this fall, especially the darker shades which has more of a gothic-meets-grunge, boho chic type of vibe.
A long maxi floral dress is a great versatile staple and a chic layering for fall. It’s such a statement piece that you can simply style it with minimal accessories like this wide brown belt – which happened to match my hair color -:) and a pair of heels in a soft color to complement the floral print in your dress.
When the fall temperatures cool down, you can layer a turtleneck underneath and reach for your moto boots and leather jacket! We’re seeing so many street styles this fall with this darker floral due that’s inspired me to embrace my darker boho chic side 🙂
Another chic way to wear a long maxi floral dress is layering it as a kimono or duster, over a casual outfit with plain colors like I did here with a pop of mustard, denim jeans and denim skirt. A floral print looks so chic with a worn out or vintage denim.
You can shop this boho chic floral dress on LIKEtoKNOW.it I’ve linked a few other dark floral print maxi dresses and pink suede heels.
Hope you enjoyed these tips on how to wear a floral dress this fall!
As always, thanks for reading.
A bientôt ♥

Love the dark floral print and the look you got layering it with the jeans. A very classy, casual look.
This is one of the reasons I love button front dresses! They offer so many styling options.

I love your dress, and fabulous you can wear it with jeans as a long line jacket too. I’ve just bought a dress that I can wear in a similar way. Glad you joined the #chicandstylish #linkup
Love how versatile this piece is! Looking gorgeous in both a maxi and a kimono!

Love all the ideas with this dress. Dark florals are a different being, aren’t they? A whole different way to play with the pattern. I am envious of the Northern hemisphere heading into fall and winter. I’m just going to have to take my darkness with florals into summer as well. Thanks so much for sharing.

Beautiful dress on you Christine! I love the belt with it, I really need a great leather belt like that. Wonderful ideas too, I love it as a duster and that mustard cami is perfect with your hair. 🙂

Hi, Christine – I like how you showed different ways to style your maxi dress. And I love the boho/grunge quality of the dress; it makes it more casual and useable on an everyday basis. Thanks for the ideas! Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com
