Celebrating 22nd Wedding Anniversary & Thoughts on a Happy Marriage

I’m so happy to be celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary today! Time flies when you’re having fun although I have to admit marriage is hard work that requires a lot of patience, every day effort and a good sense of humor!

I’m lucky that my husband views our marriage as a full partnership where he’s committed and involved as much as I am with all aspects of our marriage from raising our two kids, participating in household errands to surprising me with flowers or a last minute dinner “en amoureux”.

While we view our marriage like a partnership, we’re always very flirtatious with one another. He always teases me and I like playing along.

Some French women believe the secret to a happy marriage is to behave like his mistress. Not sure if I would go to that level, but it’s true that I don’t want to “bore” him with all the everyday details when we go out together and prefer having a romantic conversation which definitely helps keep that spark going.

The key to a happy marriage is keeping each other interested in one another and the only way to do that is to make time for each other. Since the beginning of our marriage, we frequently go out on a “date” and our kids have always understood that mom and dad need their time for each other. We also go out for walks quite often, whenever we feel we need to talk things out. Escaping together as a couple really helps keep the spark alive. Whether it’s once a week or going away for a weekend.

My one last tip which every French married woman swears by, is wearing beautiful and sexy lingerie on an everyday basis as opposed to just for a special occasion. You know, it’s all about leaving room for some spontaneous intimate time!
