Matching shorts suits are all the rage this summer. This trend was really popular back in the 90’s. Do you remember Julia Roberts coordinating coral blazer with her matching bermuda shorts in Pretty Woman?
Shorts suits are a chic and cool summertime solution, especially when temperatures reach the 90s or even 100s. You can wear them at the office, dress code permitting that is, or for an elegant soirée in town.
Non-matching shorts suits are in my mind a bit more casual chic than an actual matching set which can be more dressy. Plus, you can have fun mixing up both staples with different prints like I did with these black striped shorts and neutral off-white blazer.
The key to achieve that effortless look is to style a long oversized or boyfriend blazer with high-waisted shorts. Ideally, the length of the blazer should cover most of the shorts.
I love these utility black striped shorts from the Target Who What Wear collection. The crisp cuffs and sleek lines add a nice chic look to it. The off-white blazer is from Dynamite. This wardrobe essential is so soft and lightweight, perfect for summer and can instantly suit up any outfits! I paired the shorts with a satin black cami and completed the outfit with these super comfortable classic scalloped black suede heels from Sam Edelman.
I also love how Cheryl from Northwest Mountain Living & Style created her own summer shorts suit and styled it with tan mules.
Hope you enjoyed this summer chic look.
As always, thanks for reading!
