New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2018

It was my first time at New York Fashion Week and yes it was a dream come true!

My schedule was pretty full as I was working backstage capturing social media and behind-the-scenes content for the beauty company I work for, as well as attending shows and meeting up with other bloggers!

The adrenaline and lots of caffeine kept me going all weekend long!

I stayed at Arlo Soho, the cutest boutique hotel in Soho that recently opened. The rooms are very modern and clean. A bit tiny but at least it had a queen bed and efficient storage spaces!

The location was perfect. Walking distance to Soho and Tribeca and close to the shows which mostly take place downtown. Nicole Miller was held at Industria and Toaray Wang at Spring Studios.

I first attended Nicole Miller show on Friday night and got to meet her backstage! To my surprise, she spoke French and told me about her Parisian mother who hated living in the US. She was quite chatty and casually dressed in camo pants, black sweater and boots which was a glimpse into her Fall/Winter 2018 collection, a mix of military style and bohemian florals.

My next show was Toaray Wang on Saturday morning. Her collection was inspired by Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia. The military uniform in green and red was very strong as well as the structured grey and blue striped suit with its delicate brown lace overlays. I’m now inspired to wear red this fall which is a color I haven’t embraced quite yet.

The highlight of my trip though was meeting up with other bloggers. As a new kid on the block, it’s a great way to learn from their experiences and get insights on brand collaborations, what worked or didn’t work for them. It was so much fun meeting up in person and share our latest fashion obsessions! Dawn from Fashion Should Be Fun and Cathy from Bay Area Fashionista are in the same Instagram pods and as we comment to each other’s posts daily, we got to know each other pretty well but there’s nothing like meeting in person!

Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to go shopping. I could not make it to the new Parisian Sézane store that recently opened in Soho. It opens at 11am on Saturdays and I had to be backstage at Taoray Wang at 10am. Duties first!

As a fashion blogger, this experience was most memorable. My goal is to go back next season, this time representing Bon & Chic Style. One can always dream, right?

Hope you enjoyed this recap of NYFW! As always, thanks for reading!

A bientôt ♥
