Valentine’s Day in France & French Chic Date Outfit + a Link-Up!

Valentine's Day in France & French Chic Date Outfit + a Link-Up!

The French don’t consider “La Saint Valentin”, Valentine’s Day a major holiday. It’s in fact only celebrated for people in love and not with friends or extended family members like it is here in the US.

It’s also not such a fashion statement where you absolutely need to wear red or pink.

French women are too individualistic and not as conformists to wear a pop of color on Cupid’s day which they consider a private matter anyway and not a commercial holiday.

Don’t get me wrong, French women are very romantic and like wearing something sexy for the occasion but they just don’t go out of their way to buy something new like a red dress.

French women are very independent, especially when it comes to their own style and always have essentials in their wardrobe that they can just mix and match for a romantic Valentine’s Day Night out.

This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday so hubby and I will probably celebrate casually at home with a nice Bordeaux wine, fresh roses and Godiva chocolates. Hubby occasionally surprises me with some lingerie or a piece of jewelry so let’s see what’s in store this year -:)

We will most likely go out on the weekend to celebrate our love and 21 years of marriage. We always like exploring new restaurants in DC.

For our date night, I plan on dressing up skinny distressed jeans with a long blazer and high heels. A skinny jeans and high heels look is the ultimate effortless chic date night look in my book! The black crushed velvet turtleneck adds a nice chic contrast with the soft blush color blazer. The beige patent pumps complete this chic and elegant look by picking up the blush color from the blazer.

Tip for a sexy date night look:  mix textures and pair your denims with a dressy top like lace, leather, velvet or silk.

  1. Thank you for the little history lesson on French women in regards to Valentine’s day. That is cute. This look is so elegant and I love that is casual yet pretty dressy. The long blush pink blazer is so nice and I love the designer belt. Well done Christine!!
