How to get that Effortless French Chic Fall Weekend Outfit

Happy September! It’s the official kick-off to fall fashion! If you’re like me, fall is all about wearing my denim jeans with high heels and my favorite jacket or blazer.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved wearing my distressed shorts with my flip-flops all summer long but when the temperatures start cooling off, there’s nothing like putting your skinny jeans back on with your favorite pumps (or flats if heels are not your things) and fall accessories.

I personally welcome the early part of fall with layers and progressively transition into sweaters when it starts getting really cold. I’m always on the go so layers work perfectly.

French Chic Fall Weeekend Outfit

Here are my key staples for that effortless French Chic weekend outfit:

  • Breton Top: let’s face it; French girls own many striped tops from the traditional Petit Bateau marinière to a simple tee. For this outfit featured here, I’m actually wearing a striped bodysuit. I simply love the fitted look, especially with skinny jeans. It helps those of us with curves have a slender figure :-). I’ve linked a similar style from Forever 21 here.
  • Distressed skinny jeans:  Nordstrom Rack has a great selection of skinny jeans including two of my favorite denim brands: Articles of Society and BlankNYC (featured here). Both brands are premium denim at a very affordable price.
  • Army Green Utility Jacket: this is one of my go-to jacket on the weekends. It’s very lightweight but warm enough for cooler mornings on the soccer field or late in the evenings for a dinner out. I bought this one a few years ago at Nordstrom but linked a very similar style here.

#StyleTip: wear a statement piece you already own with a worn-out feel, like a jacket or a handbag, and mix it with a new staple to give your outfit a chic look.

The tweed pumps add a nice fall touch. For a night out, you can replace the brown belt with a black belt and change the jacket to a black blazer.

What about you? What is you go-to fall weekend outfit?

As always, thanks for reading my post.

Happy Fall!

  1. Great layered look for fall! I really like the neutral color of your utility jacket and also enjoyed your tips for changing this look for evening. Thanks for linking up with Fabulous Friday!
