Back-to-school started one week earlier this year. Schools in Fairfax county, Virginia used to start right after the Labor Day holiday. Personally I’m quite happy about that change. Kids will get off school earlier next June (they’re so exhausted by then) and we can go on our summer family vacation earlier 🙂
Back-to-school is of course all about getting new outfits for Ella who’s going into third grade and Mommy!
This time of year can be hard to dress when it’s still hot and new fall collections are in every fashion store. In this transitioning time, I like to upgrade basics that will serve as the foundation of my fall wardrobe.
The first staple that is essential to any fall French chic wardrobe is a pair of fitted black denim. You know, French girls love black! The high rise cut is back and I love how it elongates your figure! These super high rise skinny jeans from Gap are so comfortable and the fit is perfect!
The second staple is a blouse that you can wear with jeans on the weekends or at the office. I love this boho chic lace crepe top from Gap and how flowing the fabric is with its long sleeves. The fit is a bit loose so I went with a small size.
The best part about shopping at the Gap are the prices! The jeans are currently on sale for $56 and the blouse is on sale for $38.
Let’s talk about the booties now! These beauties from Dr.Scholl’s are the most comfortable shoes with the built-in foam, perfect with jeans or dress. Unfortunately these are sold out but I link a similar style here.
What about you? What are your key staples to help you transition to fall?
Hope you enjoyed this outfit.
As always, thanks for reading!
