A Dream Vacation in the Cayman Islands

I have the best vacation memories from our trip in the Grand Cayman island. Part of the British West Indies Caribbean islands, Grand Cayman is the largest of the three Cayman islands which is located south of Cuba. While the island is famous for its Seven Mile Beach of pink coral sand beach and clear waters, we decided to stay on the North Side which is less crowded and a bit more secluded.

We rented a beautiful beachfront property from VRDO called Villa Habana which unfortunately is no longer available for rental but there are so many other cute beach cottages on the north side of the island with your very own private beach! We also rented a car. The island is small enough that you can drive it in one day.

Even on the hottest days, the north easterly breeze kept us cool. The snorkeling was excellent right from our backyard, and the sunsets were breathtaking!

What I loved about our location is that it was a short drive to Rum Point and Kaibo Yacht Club where you can enjoy a selection of very unique dining experiences (i.e., bare feet in the sand to fine dining) or charter a boat for fishing, diving or a visit to Sting Ray City.

We loved going to the beach at Rum Point. It’s as nice as the Seven Miles Beach and the local shops and restaurants are typical of the Caribbean island lifestyle. We drank too many daiquiris and ate way too much mango!

Swimming with the sting rays at Sting Ray City was so much fun.  Our kids were a bit skeptical at first and nervous about touching the sting rays but they got into it right away. We left early in the morning and watched the sunrise which was quite magical!

One other highlight of our trip was Starfish point, a tropical little piece of paradise where the water is so crystal clear and the beach so fine, you want to pitch yourself that you’re not dreaming!  We were so lucky to touch a few Starfish. You just can’t leave them too long out of the water as they can survive only a few minutes. Needless to say, we took these photos in a snapshot!

We also got to swim with turtles at Cayman Turtle Farm which is a great experience for the little ones. They can pet baby green sea turtles. I can tell you that my daughter loved every minute of it!

The best part about vacationing in the Grand Caymans is the duty-free shopping of course! From designer brands to fine jewelry, you can find a really good deal.

This summer, we’re planning on vacationing in St. John’s, in the US Virgin Islands, but we definitely plan on going back to Grand Cayman. It was the perfect beach vacation.

As always, thanks for reading!

Feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions about vacationing in Grand Cayman.

XOXO
