A Fairy Tale Wedding in Istanbul, Turkey

It’s hard to believe that today is my 20th wedding anniversary! Looking back at our photo albums bring tears as both our weddings were truly magical. With both of our families living in two different countries, we had our religious wedding and reception in Leesburg, Virginia at Raspberry Plain and a second wedding reception in Istanbul, Turkey at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski hotel. I’m a lucky bride; I got to wear my wedding gown twice!

Our wedding in Istanbul holds a special place in my heart, as I did feel like a princess dancing in the arms of Prince Charming in this enchanted Ottoman palace, with its colored marble walls and soft colors.

Nestled on the European shores of the Bosphorus overloooking the ancient city, the scenic views at the Çiragan Palace are breathtaking and absolutely romantic. Istanbul holds a very strategic geographical place between Europe, Russia and the Middle East and the number of ships passing by is fascinating to watch.

The Palace was renovated in 2007 and resembles more of the authentic Baroque style of the 19th century in the times of the Sultans. It’s the only imperial palace and hotel on the Bosphorus and the only hotel in Turkey that can be reached by yacht  or helicopter.

If you’re looking to get married in a real palace with all the grandeur and elegance, this is your chance! I treasure beautiful memories from this very special day that I’m now sharing with my seven years old daughter who I hope will always believe in fairy tales, like her Mommy!

Plus, Istanbul has such a rich history and with a bridge between east and west, it offers a very vibrant culture with music, dance, theatre, art, museum exhibitions and countless restaurants.
